Cisco Unity Express: Messaging, Voicemail, Interactive Voice Response, Automated Attendant, and Fax

Organizations everywhere share the goal of reducing costs and increasing employee productivity. Through technology, businesses can meet their office communications needs now and in the future. One way is through Cisco Unity Express, a module available on Cisco Integrated Services Router platform, offering voicemail, messaging, automated attendant, interactive voice response (IVR), and fax.

An essential component to a Cisco Unified Communications Manager or a Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express, Cisco Unity Express is specifically designed for small and medium-sized office environments. Users can conveniently manage voice messages and greetings with intuitive telephone prompts, use a visual voicemail interface (VoiceView Express), and enjoy a GUI that allows for basic administration and management.

Features

Easy Operation

Cisco Unity Express makes managing voice mailboxes from a centralized location possible. The ability to add new voice services as they become available makes the solution even more advantageous.

Cisco Unity Express also offers the choice of using the industry-standard Cisco IOS® Software command-line interface (CLI) or a Web-based GUI for configuration and administration.

In many cases, information about the phones, call reports, extensions, and system parameters necessary for Cisco Unity Express operation are taken directly from Cisco Unified Communications Manager or Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express, which eliminates the need of having to repeat data entry, thereby minimizing errors and maximizing efficiency.

Cisco Unity Express supports Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and allows industry-standard SNMP-based network management applications to proactively manage, monitor, gather performance data, and receive traps at a central site. Whether managing through a GUI interface or CLI, the ability to administer, and maintain devices centrally certainly eases the remote troubleshooting and maintenance burden.
