Computer Telephony Integration (CTI)
Like how its name sounds, Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) combines telephone features with the computer system. The feature does this by using the computer as a tool to help manage phone calls.
CTI has two main purposes:
- To let computer users control their phone systems from their computers. Users with CTI can dial, answer, and hang-up the phone from their computers. For example, users can click on a contact in their address book from their computers to call the person.
- To allow the phone system to display call information on the computer. Customer contact information from the phone call such as Caller ID can be viewed right on the computer desktop.
Some of the features of CTI include:
- Computer Aided Telephony
- Automatic Call Distribution (ACD)
- Call/Data Synchronization
- "Screen Pops" for incoming and Outgoing Calls
- Desktop Dialing
- Call Center Functionality
- Intelligent Call Routing
- Visual Voice Mail
- Voice Mail, Fax Mail, and E-Mail Integration
- Predictive Dialing
- TAPI and TSAPI Compatible Applications
