VoIP

Multiple locations, call recording, automatic call responders…VoIP is truly one of the best technological advances to hit businesses.

VoIP is the way of the future–many telecom companies have made the switch, as well as businesses in every industry.  It’s the easiest way to use the internet in order to conduct calls, and it allows for so many benefits.  Multiple locations, call recording, automatic call responders…VoIP is truly one of the best technological advances to hit businesses.  But, as with everything that is new and unfamiliar to many, there are some dangerous myths that are circulating.  Make sure that you’re informed.  Let’s debunk a few of these myths about VoIP!

Myth #1: The call quality is worse than with traditional landlines.

The only reason that VoIP call quality would decrease is because the equipment or internet connection is not up to par.  VoIP uses a stable internet connection, so if bandwidth is low, the call quality will drop.  Likewise, if your equipment is not provided by a reputable brand, your call quality will almost certainly decrease.  So, the quality of your VoIP call can be much better than a traditional landline.

Myth #2: VoIP isn’t secure.

Not true.  Actually, traditional landlines are far more vulnerable to tapping.  Copper wires are very easy to tamper with, meaning listening in on a conversation is simple.  However, VoIP is encoded.  Conversations can be protected with firewalls, encryption, and voice transmission.  It also brings back the fact that you should never buy cheap equipment.  Only trusted brands are able to provide the most protection.

Myth #3: You can’t keep your number.

Obviously, this would be a huge issue for your business.  Changing your number would mean a lot of complicated changes you’d have to make across so many different channels.  However, VoIP actually allows you to keep your number when you switch over, no matter how complicated.  VoIP will actually also allow you to add lines while your business grows, meaning you’ll never have to worry about phone numbers as you expand.
