FCC Announces Changes to Robocall & Robotext Opt-outs

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released an order (Docket No: 02-278) last Monday delaying the rule requiring robocall and robotext originators to stop all communications if a recipient revokes consent for any one type of message.
The original effective date was April 11, 2025, but has been delayed by one year to give businesses additional time to implement operational and technical changes needed to comply with the new requirements.
Any business that sends robotexts or places robocalls to consumers must adhere to the new ruling by April 11, 2026.
The new FCC rules will require that consumers be allowed to revoke consent for robocalls and robotexts using any reasonable method—including replying to messages, using opt-out mechanisms during calls, or submitting requests via designated forms or contact points.
Companies must honor opt-out requests within 10 business days (or 6 business days for package delivery messages), and cannot restrict consumers to using only a single method for revoking consent.
